The Bus!
Today was a funny day. We took the long bus route on accident but it was still fun. Listening to all the different people today was really interesting. I especially took interest in the food bank information. I would really like to get involved with volunteering for the food bank for sure. Then the store with all the second hand furniture was way awesome! If I ever need anything for my room I now know where the best place to check out is.
The Office
Getting to go to The Department of Ecology was a sweet exerience. Tom was full of cool information about the office and I really liked going around and interviewing some of the staff members with my checklist! I don't know if I could work in an office like that though...
The Farmers Market was so cool! I loved seeing all the local food and everything they were selling. Definately a place I will be heading back to. First day on the bus as well...wasn't hard at all.

Day Four
Today was not the most exciting compared to the others but it was really awesome to talk to that guy on skype and get to hear all about what we are doing tomorrow with the audits. I think it will be a really good experience to be in the office and really go through the checklist.
Some of the kids in class want to go back to that one beach we went to and pick up garbage there which will be fun when we find some free time!

Best Day Yet
Today was absolutely amazing! I have never seen so many diverse environments and awesome views. My favorite part of the day was the view at Baker. Just sitting there staring around at the mountains and trees was so peaceful and everyone was quiet so I just felt like everyone truly appreciated it. The old growth forest was really interesting to see too. It was like seeing true natural life and seeing the habitats the are naturally created from time and aging was cool because that is becoming more and more rare these days.
There was alot of garbage on the beach and it felt wrong walking by it. I picked up as much as I could and with the contributions from the two men and their beautiful dog I collected a beer box, two light bulbs, a lighter, a gladware box, and two cans that smelled illegal.
Im having a hard time focusing and getting the homework done but it is definately coming along and I will have it done. I am still confused on the group power point presentation but I will ask about it tomorrow...

Nature
Today was amazing! I know Bellingham is beautiful but seriously words can't do justice to what our class got to see today. It was so fun and the time flew by so fast. Everyone was super nice and it was really cool to meet people who have lived here for a long time and still have a passion for helping thier community by keeping it clean. I am glad I got exposed to this early on because now I can continue exploring Bellingham and finding new ways to volunteer.
The river was fun and a great way to shake off any lingering stress I had from yesterday. My favorite things my canoeing buddy and I found were a hawaiian shirt and green sunglasses. I had never been canoeing before and this was a great first experience!

Great First Day
Today, being the first day of our environmental science and sustainability class, I find myself feeling confident and excited about whats to come this week and next. We kicked things off going over the syllabus and took most of the time up with a power point. However, when I think of power points I don't think of what I saw today. It was kind of a shortened version of an inconvenient truth in the eyes of Katie Fleming-or at least that is how I perceived it. The slides were really affective and while we were learning about environmental issues and happenings, we also learned techniques of good and bad power point presentations and I know that definately was useful to me because every power point presentation I ever gave was just reading of the slides as if I had no clue what I was talking about.
Coming into this class I wasn't very sure if the environmental sciences area was going to be for me, but even just the three hours we spent in class today has really turned my perspective around and I am super excited about what is to come from this course. I'm really pumped for tomorrow because cleaning up rivers is a familiar thing for me so I'm sure I will have lots of fun!
